What are nettles?
Nettles are more than stinging nettles, which are loved for their healing properties and feared for their leaves and shoots covered in stinging hairs.
Some other plants whose serrated leaves look similar to those of stinging nettles are also known as nettles. Although they do not have stinging hairs.
Nettles can grow as annuals, perennials, upright or creeping. They spread by seeds and stolons. Their flowers are pollinated by the wind (stinging nettles) or by insects (dead nettles).
