How to grow Amaranthus retroflexus from seeds

Amaranth can be sown and grown indoors all year round. The seeds germinate quickly, with the first cotyledons appearing after around five days at 68 to 77 °F (20 to 25 °C).

The depth of sowing can be between five and 15 millimeters. The seeds do not have to be soaked before being sown.

Substrates for herbs or vegetables are suitable for sowing. I have used herb soil loosened with bird sand and pumice gravel.

The pot can be placed in partial sunlight until most of the seeds have germinated. The young plants can then be acclimatized to direct sunlight.
