Xanthosoma sagittifolium is not only closely related to Colocasia esculenta and looks confusingly similar to it, the tubers of tannia, like those of taro, are edible.
The two species can be distinguished by their height; Xanthosoma sagittifolium can grow up to 2.5 meters high.
