Habitus & biology
The shoots of Galium odoratum grow up to 30 centimeters long and grow upright, ascending (“semi-erect”) or prostrate.
The narrow, lanceolate leaves are arranged in whorls of six (below) to eight (above) per whorl.
The leaf margins are finely serrated to ciliate (hairy), with or without a pointed tip.
Short runners are formed.

Galium odoratum colonizes forests and bushes and is planted as a culinary herb or ornamental plant in parks and gardens. Its distribution area includes Central Asia, Western Asia, the Caucasus, North Africa, and Europe (source).
