Growth habit & biology
Datura stramonium can grow over a meter tall and then resemble a shrub. However, it is an annual herbaceous plant.
The rhombic, triangular, or oval leaves are lobed and coarsely toothed. The leaf margin is smooth.
The leaves, stems, flowers, and fruits are poisonous.

Distribution & habitates
Its native range includes southern North America, Central America, and the Caribbean. As an introduced species, Datura stramonium is found almost worldwide (source).

As a pioneer species, Datura stramonium commonly colonizes construction sites, rubble heaps, and other disturbed habitats, as well as fields, parks, gardens, roadsides, embankments, and slopes.
