Growth habit & biology

Aesculus parviflora is a deciduous shrub that can grow up to four meters tall and, thanks to short runners, several meters wide. The finger-like, palmately divided leaves consist of five to seven leaflets up to 22 centimeters long. The central leaflet is the longest. The leaf margin can be notched to slightly serrated. The petioles are green or reddish in color.
