Kroenleinia grusonii “Brevispinus” can often still be found in the shops under its old botanical name: Echinocactus grusonii var. brevispinus. This cultivar, which was created by breeding, differs from the wild type in having significantly shorter spines (source).
This mostly spherical cactus can grow to over one meter in height and reach diameters of up to 80 centimetres.
