Ficus elastica “Shivereana”

Moonshine fig, rubber fig, rubber bush, Indian rubber bush, rubber tree, Indian rubber tree

Ficus elastica “Shivereana” or Ficus elastica “Shivereana Moonshine”, both names are used for this variety, is probably the most striking cultivated form of Ficus elastica. In good light, the leaves turn an intense yellow to yellow-poison green.

Young plants, such as the small tree shown here, are usually offered in the trade. Varieties with such colorful leaves are often somewhat tricky to care for. This does not apply to the “Shivereana”, which does not differ in its requirements for light, water and nutrients from the other forms of Ficus elastica that are cultivated as houseplants.
