The flat to ascending shoots of Erigeron karvinskianus grow up to 30 centimeters long. In suitable locations, this plant, which originates from Mexico, Central, and South America, can spread extensively and flower from May to November (in Central Europe).
Like other Erigeron species, Erigeron karvinskianus tends to run wild and occurs as a neophyte in some African, Asian, and European regions as well as in New Zealand.
